A band of people crash land on a mysterious and magical island haunted by an evil spirit. As they attempt to survive and explore the island's magical secrets, each character begins to experience their own purgatory "sideways world" - an almost spiritual dream wherein they resolve past conflicts so that they can eventually move on in the afterlife.

The show's strength is the strong character depth, you can become quite wrapped up in their stories. Some people were disappointed in that the writers do not answer many of your questions, leaving the audience to figure it all out through study and research. I liked the show but my wife and I decided to stop watching it as we felt uncomfortable with its strong New Age spiritual theme, not to mention that it contains violence, horror/thriller scenes, and some bad language.
